For the second year in a row, Savannah College of Art and Design film and television students are competing as finalists in the Sprite Films national student filmmaker competition to win a $30,000 contract job with Sprite and the Coca Cola Co.

B.F.A. film and television student Noah Sterling was one of five students chosen from a pool of emerging filmmakers representing 18 universities across the United States. Sterling won a $15,000 budget to produce his script into a 60-second short film.

In May, Sterling, director of the film, “Paint the City,” and B.F.A. film and television student Megan Melrose, the producer, led a student crew to shoot the project in Savannah. The story about a street artist creatively portrays urban culture and captures the contest theme, “Be True to Yourself.”

Through Aug. 31, “Paint the City” will be featured on Sprite.com/films, where audiences can view and vote for the films. With each vote, fans will be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip for four to Florida’s Universal Orlando Resort. The student crew with the most votes will win the Fan Favorite Award, $5,000 to be donated by Sprite to its university’s film department, and a trip to the American Film Institute Festival in Hollywood, Calif.

A panel of industry experts will evaluate the student films and determine the winner of the $30,000 contract to produce content for Sprite.
