Monte Carlo: Deal Out the Decadence
6 p.m. Sept. 21. Jepson Center. 207 W. York St. William Jay Society’s premier event, which features casino gaming tables, cocktails & hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and live entertainment. Black tie optional. Proceeds from this annual event support acquisitions and preservation for the museum’s permanent collections. Car seat check
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 21. Effingham County Wal-Mart, 434 S. Columbia Ave., Rincon. Authorities and child safety seat advocates are teaming up for a seat check Sept. 21 at the Effingham County Wal-Mart to spread their message about the importance of child occupant protection. The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, in partnership with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and Effingham County Health Department, will be hosting the event to mark National Seat Check.

‘A Night in Ireland’
2 and 6 p.m. Sept. 21. American Legion Post 154, Tybee Island. Glor na Daire Academy of Irish Dance presents its annual fundraiser, “A Night in Ireland” with two performances Sept. 21 at the American Legion Post 154 on Tybee Island. The matinee features dancing only and begins at 2 p.m. Matinee tickets are $5 each. The evening performance includes dinner, Irish dancing, live music, cash bar and silent auction. Seating starts at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Evening tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for children. Tickets may be purchased at www.glornadaire.com or Big Frog Custom T-shirts, 1909 E. Unity in the Community
1-3 p.m. Sept. 21. Fellwood Park. Downtown Precinct officers of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department extend their efforts to unite west Savannah neighborhoods with each other and the department Sept. 21. “Unity in the Community” will be from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 21 at the city’s Fellwood Park. There will be two bounce houses, snow cones and cotton candy, cook-out, mini job fair and confidential informational sessions by the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office and Metro Criminal Investigations Division detectives.

Sacred Music concert
5 p.m. Sept. 21. Butler Presbyterian Church, 603 W. Victory Drive. Angela Small Blalock, soprano, will be featured in a Sacred Music Concert to support the 16th annual Summer Music Camp, 2014 BRAVO Music Company Inc. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Farm Heritage Day
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21. 934 Driggers Road, Brooklet. Hunter Cattle will be having Farm Heritage Day on Sept. 21 on their family farm in Brooklet. The event will include live music from local bands and foods prepared by the renowned chefs and restaurants that use Hunter Cattle products. Some of the local farm-to-table vendors who will be attending include: Leoci’s Trattoria, Green Truck Pub, Neo HHI, 22 Square, Thrive, Chops on Main, Brasserie 529 and more. Boater safety course
8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21. SCMPD Training facility in the Savannah Mall, second floor next to Dillard’s. The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Marine Patrol will conduct a boating safety course on Sept. 21. The course is free and is required of boaters of certain ages to operate certain vessels. ‘See How They Run’ auditions
10 a.m.-noon. Sept. 21; 2-4 p.m. Sept. 22. Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, 195 Wimington Island Road. Island Methodist Players will be hosting auditions for their upcoming production of “See How They Run” by Philip King. Three women between the ages of 25-65 and six men between the ages of 25-65 are needed for the cast. The production will be Nov. 7-9. For more information, call the church office at 912-897-2835.

Savannah Philharmonic opening night
7 p.m. Sept. 21. Lucas Theatre, 32 Abercorn St. The Savannah Philharmonic Chorus and Orchestra is back for what promises to be another exciting season starting Sept. 21. Opening night features some of the great classical musical works of Bernstein, Buckley and Beethoven. The concert will feature Bernstein’s “Overture” followed by the world premiere of Buckley’s “Violin Concerto” and Beethoven’s most famous composition, “Symphony No. 5 in C Minor.” The Savannah Philharmonic is also excited to have world-renowned and award-winning violin soloist Gwendolyn Masin join them on stage. Gravel Hill Cemetery Spruce Up
7 a.m. Sept. 21. Gravel Hill Cemetery, Bloomingdale. There will be a gathering of volunteers to spruce up and clean up our beautiful cemetery Sept. 21; rain date is Sept. 28. As Gravel Hill is not a perpetual care cemetery, it is often up to others to care for the resting place of our loved ones. We ask that you bring a picnic lunch that we will spread at 11:30 a.m. Lemonade and water will be available. The history and stories of Gravel Hill will be told, along with a scavenger hunt with prizes. Bring your own tools, trash bags and a chair.

National Federation of the Blind of Chatham County meeting

‘The Sundae Singers’ with 13th Colony Sound
7 p.m. Sept. 21. Savannah Arts Academy, 500 Washington Ave. 13th Colony Sound, Savannah’s Barbershop Harmony Society Chorus, presents a musical comedy “The Sundae Singers” Sept. 20 and 21. Featured performers are 13th Colony Sound Chorus and Quartets, Savannah Storm Youth Chorus, Downtown Sound Boys Quartet, Savannah Arts Academy Skylark Chorus, Soprano Erin Love, Vintage Four Quartet, and Carolinas District Championship Quartet: ½-Ton Pickup. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students; tickets at the door will be $15 for adults, $10 for students. ‘Dreams of Anne Frank’
7:30 p.m. Sept. 21, 22 and 3 p.m. Sept. 22. Jenkins Hall Black Box Theater, AASU campus. Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Masquers theater troupe presents “Dreams of Anne Frank” from Sept. 18-22. The 1993 winner of the Time Out award for best children’s production, this is an imaginative play that humanizes Anne Frank’s story of tremendous bravery. Tickets are $10. Blues and BBQ
2-11:30 p.m. Sept. 21. Main Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Hinesville. Blues and BBQ is a community event celebrating good music, food and fun! Enjoy free kids’ activities, determine who has the best sweet tea in Liberty County and much more. The ever-popular barbecue tasting contest will be from 4-5 p.m. Voting tokens are $5 apiece, and enable you to sample all of the available barbecue. Pin Point Seafood Festival
