Chatham County deputies arrested a 19-year-old man who was on probation for gun and drug charges after a foot chase Monday and jailed him on gun and drug charges.
Carlos Richardson was on felony probation for gun and drugs charges already when deputies spotted him in the 100 block of Michelle Street, said Gena Bilbo, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. They attempted to make contact with Richardson after he walked into a gas station, she said.
Richardson ran and the deputies chased him. During the pursuit, Richardson was seen throwing a gun over a fence, Bilbo said. The gun was later discovered to be a 9-mm Glock with a 30-round extended clip, she said.
A search of Richardson after his apprehension turned up marijuana, Bilbo said.
Richardson was taken to the Chatham County jail. Bilbo said he will be charged with fleeing to elude, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana more than an ounce.
