A Chatham County Sherrif’s Office lieutenant was arrested late Friday and has been charged with aggravated child molestation.
Chatham County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Lt. Richard Adam “Rick” Hall at his Wilmington Island home after conducting a search warrant there, said Gena Bilbo, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
The arrest came as part of an ongoing investigation that was part of a joint effort between the sheriff’s office and the Chatham County District Attorney’s office, Bilbo said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation provided technical assistance in the investigation.
Additional information about Hall’s arrest was not immediately available. A press conference in which senior sheriff’s office officials are expected to address the issue has been scheduled for Monday morning.
Hall, who was promoted to lieutenant in July 2007, was booked into the Chatham County jail where he is awaiting arraignment.
He was suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation, Bilbo said.
