Family struggles to recover from house fire

Sarah and her four children didn’t have much in the way of possessions or money. But they always managed to get by.

Then disaster struck.

Several months ago, a fire destroyed their home, along with the contents inside. Investigators blamed faulty wiring.

Fortunately, Sarah and her children, whose ages range from five to 14, made it out alive.

Unfortunately, the blaze temporarily left them homeless and forced Sarah to start over.

The family recently found a place to live and has moved in. But it has been a struggle replacing the household items they lost. Sarah is happy just to have beds for her kids by Christmas.

Sarah counts her blessings, knowing that the fire could have been tragic. But she’s unable to give her children something extra this year to lift their spirits during the holiday season.

The Empty Stocking Fund was created to help struggling families in our area at this time of year. The public’s generosity helps put smiles on the faces of children who are trapped in circumstances beyond their control.

Contributions will be acknowledged in the manner requested by donors.
