German pop singer/songwriter Yannick Niedworok will join three local performers at the Savannah Songwriters Series set for Jan. 12.

Niedworok is on a tour of the United States. A native of Mannheim, Germany, he began playing piano at age 5 and was only 10 when he began to compose and write songs.

Today, Niedworok also plays guitar and bass. He has been in several bands, including Rumpel Steel Skin and The Latency Dilemma.

Since 2011, Niedworok has studied music and English at Bethany College in West Virginia. He has been on the road to perform since 2012.

Also performing will be local singer/songwriters Tom Cooler, Pete Love and Roy Swindelle.

Cooler released his first CD, “Nebraska Boy,” in 2012. It includes the song “Tuscaloosa” about the devastating tornado that hit that town in 2011. Cooler also has released a new live CD, “This is What You Get.”

Love has played with groups such as the Denny Phillips Band, Spectrum, Band in the Park and Mary Davis and Co. A guitarist who is comfortable with most genres, he is currently playing with the Navigators.

Swindelle is a multi-instrumentalist, playing drums, bass, guitar, steel drums and harmonica. He plays solo, often as Roy and the Circuit Breakers, as well as with the Christy Alan Band.

Swindelle’s new CD, “401-k Plan,” just came out.

He is a producer of the Savannah Songwriters Series, which showcases original music twice monthly on the second Sunday at the Tybee Island American Legion and the fourth Sunday at Johnny Harris. All are free to the public.
