Police say four people face felony charges after a vandalism spree involving paint ball guns and marbles in the Savannah area that damaged dozens of businesses, houses, vehicles and a church over two weekends.
The four were arrested by officers from the Savannah-Chatham and Thunderbolt police departments early Monday morning.
All four: Lavontay Frank Gatson, 20, of the 300 block of young Avenue; April Ann Mizer, 18, of the 100 block of Tabby Lane; and Renee Kelsey Raker, 17, and William Cody Smith, 21, both of the 9900 block of Ferguson Avenue; were charged with two counts of criminal damage to property and nine counts of criminal trespass. Mizer and Smith also were charged with vandalism to a place of worship.
All four admitted to shooting marbles at multiple vehicles and businesses causing the glass and windows to shatter and spray painting multiple vehicles and the church on Lehigh Avenue, said Julian Miller, metro police spokesman.
Police identified dozens of cars and buildings with windows and other damage from marbles that had been fired from a paint ball gun, he said. The damage was similar to reports from Jan. 29 and 30 when numerous incidents of vandalism were reported.
Damage included broken windows at Food Lion on Skidaway Road, K-Mart on Montgomery Crossroad, Farmers Furniture, numerous car windows, vehicles spray painted, and a church spray painted in Pin Point.
Reports of damage continue to be received by metro police, Miller said. Islands and Southside Precinct detectives continue to investigate.
