CARROLLTON — Ashontianna Williams scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead Johnson past Central Carrollton 54-50 in double overtime in the girls Class AAA playoffs Monday.
With the win, Johnson advanced to the Elite Eight.
Alexandria Brooks added 10 points, seven assists and three steals for the Atom Smashers (25-7).
Jasmine Brash led Central with 19 points. Sherae Bonner had 15.
The game was tied 44-all at the end of regulation and 49-49 the end of the first overtime.
Johnson will travel to Pike County on Wednesday for a quarterfinal game.

GUYTON — Tianna Germain scored 24 points and recorded eight steals as South Effingham defeated Rutland in the second round of the girls Class AAAA state basketball playoffs Monday.
Shae Leverett had a double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Machala Raymonville had 14 points.
Ty’Asia Grayer led Rutland with 23 points and Eboni Watts added 15.
South Effingham trailed 28-19 at the half and 36-34 at the end of the third quarters before surging to the win.
The Mustangs (25-4) will play the winner of the Dutchtown-Monroe game next, probably on Wednesday in the Class AAAA quarterfinals.

EFFINGHAM COUNTY 67, STARR’S MILL 43
SPRINGFIELD — Effingham County defeated Starr’s Mill behind Kyesha Lewis’ double-double on Monday in the second round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs.
Lewis had 23 points and 10 rebounds. MaKayla Robinson had eight points and nine rebounds in the win and Jakayvea Akins had eight assists.
Katy Buck had 13 points for Starr’s Mill.
The victory sends the Rebel girls to the Elite 8 of the playoffs where they will face either Forest Park or Northside, Columbus.
That game will most likely be on Wednesday, coach Curtis Stevens said.
A Forest Park matchup would be played at home, while a Northside, Columbus game would be an away game, he said.

Breyonna Raymond led Portal with 20 and Chandelier Morgan had 14.
Claxton will play the winner of the Emanuel County Institute-Dooley County game next.
