For the first time in the 36 years that the Savannah Tennis League has been holding organized tennis matches in the Savannah area, the Savannah Quarters Country Club served as the host location of the organization’s spring season-ending festivities and awards luncheon that took place on May 8.
The celebration was organized by the tennis committee at Savannah Quarters. More than 250 ladies who participated in league play attended an exhibition tennis match showcasing tennis pros from Savannah-area clubs; 17 vendors offering sports, fashion and beauty products; and a buffet lunch in the Savannah Quarters Clubhouse.
The Savannah Tennis League sees the participation of approximately 500 women from the Savannah area each season. The league has two seasons of play, fall and spring, and the matches consist of a scheduled circuit of doubles competitions that are organized according to playing levels based on participants’ experience and skill. The host private clubs and public parks where league play takes place include Savannah Quarters Country Club, The Landings Club, The Savannah Yacht Club, The Wilmington Island Club, The Savannah Golf Club, Southbridge Racquet Club, Bacon Park and Daffin Park.
