A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured Monday afternoon after the motorized scooter he was riding crashed in the side of a car on Savannah’s eastside.
Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller said the child was riding the scooter on Collins Street when he ran a stop sign and crashed into the side of a Nissan Altima that was traveling north on Live Oak Street. The child was not wearing a helment.
The boy was transported to Memorial University Medical Center.
The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team are continuing to investigate the wreck, Miller said.
