Deputy Commissioner Tim Evans, left, presents an EXCEL Certificate of Leadership Development to Carolyn Hughes of Savannah, assistant manager of the Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Savannah Career Center. Hughes graduated from the GDOL’s Executive Commitment to Excellence in Leadership (EXCEL) 2014 class. EXCEL, a partnership between the GDOL and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government in Athens, is designed to develop future leaders for the department. Classes explore the major political, social, and economic issues facing the state and nation. Also participating in the presentation is David Key, right, EXCEL facilitator for the Vinson Institute. The graduation ceremony was held June 13 in Peachtree City.
