Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah has announced Bobby and Claudia Deen as their 2014 celebrity captains.
Bobby Deen’s show, “Not My Mama’s Meals,” airs on the Food Network and the Cooking Channel. Bobby, along with his mother and brother Jamie, own The Lady & Sons in Savannah. He has written four books with his brother and two on his own: New York Times #1 bestseller “From Mama’s Table to Mine” in 2013, and “Everyday Eats” in 2014. He lives with his wife, Claudia, in Savannah where she works as a health coach.
Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk Savannah honors the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller along with his 342 FDNY brothers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001. Public service industry workers, corporate teams and the public are encouraged to register for this patriotic event, which will also be attended by officers of the FDNY.
All proceeds from the Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah benefit the foundation’s various programs including Building for America’s Bravest, which constructs specially adapted smart homes for our nation’s most catastrophically injured service members. Participants play a role in continuing Stephen’s legacy by supporting our nation’s first responders and service members.
Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah is 8 a.m. Sept. 13 at Orleans Square (Barnard Street between Perry and Hull streets) in downtown Savannah. The cost is $25 for military/first responders, $30 through Sept. 10, and $40 Sept. 11, 12 and race day. Children under 6 run free but must register.
