HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: St. Andrew's tops First Baptist 36-22

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Caleb Tymchyshyn rushed for 334 yards and four touchdowns as St. Andrew’s earned its first victory 36-22 over host First Baptist School of Charleston on Friday.

Tymchyshyn, a junior running back, had 33 carries and touchdown runs of 4, 46, 2 and 1 yards as well as two conversion runs. The Lions (1-3, 1-0 SCISA Region 1-AA) totaled 399 yards on the ground and 64 through the air.

Nate Mayo accounted for the Lions’ other TD on a 24-yard run in the second quarter.

First Baptist totaled 154 yards rushing and 179 passing with one interception and one lost fumble.

TOOMBS COUNTY 20, BEACH 12

LYONS — Jamar Smith rushed for 84 yards, including touchdowns of 14 yards in the first quarter and 22 yards in the third, as host Toombs County defeated Beach.

Beach (2-2) scored touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters, but had extra-point attempt blocked and another missed.

Toombs County senior safety Darius Scott led the team with 17 tackles.

APPLING COUNTY 44,

TATTNALL COUNTY 22

BAXLEY — Cassius Frederick ran for 163 yards and three touchdowns to lead Appling County past Tattnall County.

Frederick scored on runs of 3, 5 and 14 yards as Appling raised its record to 2-1 overall, 1-0 in Region 1-AAA.

Appling quarterback Jason Dhaliwal threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers: Maurice Paulk, Joe Castillo and Demonte Moore.

Markez Bostick carried 16 times for 134 yards and a touchdown for Tattnall, which slipped to 2-1, 0-1 in region play.

Devin Nixon rushed for three touchdowns and the Groves defense caused six turnovers in a victory over Windsor Forest.

Nixon scored on runs of 16, 20 and 4 yards. He led the team in rushing with 69 yards.

Shabari Davis had two interceptions for the Rebels (3-0).

Windsor fell to 0-3.

BULLOCH ACADEMY 33,

GATEWOOD SCHOOL 7

STATESBORO — Bulloch Academy scored two touchdowns in a span of 29 seconds in the first quarter as the Gators (3-1) pulled away from the Gatewood School.

Will Rushing threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Davis Childs and Andrew Howell added a 2-yard scoring run as Bulloch turned a 6-0 lead to 18-0.

Dylan Stuckey ran for 72 yards and scored on runs of 20 and 1 yards.

Gatewood dropped to 0-4.
