HIGH SCHOOLS: Madison ousts South Effingham

Madison County defeated South Effingham 3-0 in the Class AAAA boys tennis semifinals Tuesday.

The Mustangs ended the season 16-3.

Boys Class AAAA Final Four

Singles—Trey Morris (M) def. Taylor Merritt 6-0, 6-0; Ben Strickland (M) def. Carl Mesmer 6-0, 6-2

Doubles—Hank Sartain-Koty Ngunen def. Brian Nease-David McKinnon 6-4, 7-5.

Record—SE 16-3

TRACK

SA’s Miller wins at SCISA track meet

St. Andrew’s sprinter Brandon Miller won a championship in the 100-meter dash at the SCISA state track meet at Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, S.C., last weekend.

Miller had a time of 11.67 in the 100 and placed sixth in the 200-meter with a 25.59.

In other boys results, Nate Mayo was fifth in the 200-meter dash (25.11) and fourth in the 400 (56.35). Glen Clark was seventh in the 1600 (5:23) and the 4 X 100 relay team of Cole Beaudreau, Michael Yang, Mayo and Miller was second with a 46.70. The 4 X 800 relay team of Joel Norras, Glen Clark, Connor Fields and James Ferencsik was third with a 9:59.

In the girls meet, Rebecca Suh was second in both the 100 (13.94) and 200 (27.94). Morgan Randolph was fourth in the 1600 (5:55), Victoria McLaren sixth in the 3200 (14:23) and Addison Randolph seventh in the 3200 (14:48).

St. Andrew’s 4 X 100 relay team of McLaren, Hannah Suh, Morgan Bennet and Rebecca Suh was third at 56.4 and the 4 X 400 relaye team of Rebecca Suh, McLaren, Morgan Randolph and Bennet was third at 4:48.

Both the boys and girls teams finished sixth overall.
