About 75,000 gallons of sewage spilled on Tybee on Saturday when a sewer force main line that broke June 30 near 10th Street and Jones Avenue broke again.
Heavy rains coupled with increased loads brought on by the seasonal influx of tourists are believed to have contributed to the spills, which occurred on a line previously estimated to have another ten years of life.
The second break means a replacement project will be extended to the almost 3,500 feet of this branch, Tybee officials note.
Beach water at Tybee is tested for bacteria weekly on Tuesdays with results received and announced on Wednesdays.
