Detectives are looking for a man they say made off with about 40 pounds of cigarettes from a Savannah convenience store early last month.
Surveillance cameras captured a man behaving "suspiciously” before stealing two 20-pound boxes of cigarettes from a Parker’s store on the 200 block of Beech Street just after 2 a.m. June 6, said Eunica Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman.
The man then entered a dark car that was waiting nearby and fled east on Beech, Baker said.
Police describe the man they suspect of cigarette thievery as a 25- to 30-year-old black man with a medium brown complexion who stands 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 240 pounds and has a muscular upper body. During the theft, he had a low-cut beard and wore a white T-shirt, blue jean shorts and tan or orange sneakers.
