The Southeast Regional Office of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
has announced the “Best Practice” award winners in the 25th annual National School
Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP) and Food Distribution
Program (FDP) categories. All of the nominations submitted included excellent
examples of best practices within the Child Nutrition Programs, and we are proud to say
that our School Nutrition Program has received this national award for Promoting a
Healthy School Environment.
The award recognizes school districts for the effective use of multiple methods that
involve and educate students and their families about good nutrition and healthy
lifestyles. Health fairs, magazine articles, newsletters, websites, and taste tests have
been utilized to implement the SCCPSS wellness program.
Congratulations to Lydia Martin and all of the staff of the School Nutrition Program for your continued efforts to offer a high quality service throughout Savannah-Chatham Public Schools.
